parkour coach Martin Matyšek
All Coaches BrnoHi, my name is Martin Matyšek. I am currently studying at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Brno University of Technology. I’ve been doing parkour for over 9 years, and what I like most about it is the variety and freedom that are hard to find in other activities.
Ever since I was little, I enjoyed climbing trees and overcoming obstacles. Once, a Jackie Chan movie was on TV and I was absolutely blown away by his action scenes. And so, at the age of 7, I got into taekwondo, which I eventually stuck with for over 10 years and earned a black belt. Taekwondo taught me hard work and consistent training, but even during that time I felt it wasn’t quite it. In 2015, a parkour playground was built in our housing estate, which kicked off my parkour beginnings.
Parkour completely captivated me. Learning new movements, variety, fluidity, creativity, freedom of movement, working with fear, and pushing past myself made me fall in love with parkour.
In recent years, I’ve been more on the border between parkour, strength training, social dancing, and martial arts. I also like going bouldering, cycling, or just heading out into nature.
I found that it’s important for me to keep improving and moving forward. And above all, to enjoy the joy of movement regardless of the activity.
